Supported CAD formats in ArcGIS

ArcGIS for Desktop supports the following AutoCAD and MicroStation file formats:

• Direct-read formats are translated on the fly into memory as read-only feature datasets. You can add them to map documents directly from the Catalog window.
• Exported formats can be used in MicroStation- and AutoCAD-based applications. You can export geodatabase feature classes and shapefiles.
