An overview of the Analysis toolsets

This topic applies to ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced only.

Contains the toolsets used to process or manipulate your coverages to solve spatial or statistical problems. Some of the most commonly used geoprocessing tools, such as clip, buffer, and intersect, are part of this toolset. Some of these tools are used in analysis based on an attribute value within a dataset, interacting datasets, or both.

Toolset	Description
Extract	Contains tools that are used to select features or parts of features in a coverage, then create a new coverage containing these features.
Overlay	Contains tools to overlay multiple coverages to combine features into or erase, modify, or update spatial features in a new coverage.
Proximity	Contains tools that determine the proximity of features within a coverage or between two coverages.
