Advanced configurations for ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for Java

The ArcGIS 10.1 Spatial Data Server for Java is installed as a web application archive (war)—arcgis.war—which is a Java archive (.jar) file used to distribute a collection of JavaServer Pages, Java Servlets, Java classes, XML files, static HTML web pages, and other files that together constitute a web application.

You can extract (or uncompress) war files using the jar command included with the Java SE Development Kit 6 (JDK) to access and alter the files inside it, then repackage (or compress) it using the same command. Therefore, to complete any of the advanced configurations in this section, you must install the JDK.

To implement advanced configurations, you must be familiar with how your chosen web application server works. Always refer to your application server documentation for specific instructions.
