Using simple kriging to create a probability map

Simple kriging can produce reliable probability maps if the input data is normally distributed.

Steps:
  1. Click the Geostatistical Wizard button Geostatistical Wizard on the Geostatistical Analyst toolbar.
  2. Select Kriging/CoKriging and choose a dataset and attribute field, then click Next.
  3. Choose Simple kriging and set the Transformation type to Normal Score.
  4. Set the Output Type to Probability and type a value in the Primary Threshold Value text box or click the Set button and set the threshold on the Classification dialog box.
  5. Select either the Exceed or NOT Exceed option and click Next.
  6. Click Next on the Normal Score Transformation dialog box.
  7. Specify the desired parameters on the Semivariogram/Covariance Modeling dialog box and click Next.
  8. Specify the desired parameters on the Searching Neighborhood dialog box and click Next.
  9. Examine the results on the Cross Validation dialog box and click Finish.
  10. Click OK on the Method Report dialog box.
