Importing S-58 validation results into the Reviewer table (Maritime Charting)

The ENC created by the Generate QC Cell tool can be tested in third-party validation software to validate the data against S-58. Once the data is validated, the log file can be parsed by the S-58 Log To Reviewer Table script tool to import errors and warnings as records in the Reviewer table.

Writing the S-58 validation results to the Reviewer table

The S-58 Log To Reviewer Table script tool parses validation log files generated by dKart Inspector 6.x and ENC Analyzer 3.x.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Add the Nautical feature dataset from your NIS to the Table Of Contents window.
  3. If necessary, change to an edit version by doing the following:
    1. Click the List By Source button List By Source at the top of the Table Of Contents window.
    2. Right-click the version workspace and click Change Version.

The Change Version dialog box appears.

    3. Choose the edit version.
    4. Click OK.
  4. Click the ArcToolbox button ArcToolbox on the Standard toolbar.

    The ArcToolbox window appears.

  5. Browse to Nautical Tools > Validation.
  6. Double-click the S-58 Log To Reviewer Table script tool.

The S-58 Log To Reviewer Table dialog box appears.

The ENC File parameter will autopopulate if you select a log file generated from dKart Inspector or if you select a log file generated from ENC Analyzer and the ENC referenced in the ENC Analyzer log file exists in the same folder as the log file.

  8. If necessary, click the browse button Browse next to ENC File and browse to the ENC file that was run through a third-party validation software.
  9. Click the browse button Browse next to the Production Database parameter and browse to your NIS.
    NoteNote:

Be sure to connect to the version of the NIS that was used to generate the QC cell.

  11. Click OK.
