Accessing globe cache properties

The Caching tab on the Service Editor is where you set the tiling scheme and other properties for your globe cache. You should set these options before you start creating cache tiles.

You can get to the Service Editor either when you go through the process of publishing a new service or by editing the properties of an existing globe service. If you're publishing a service for the very first time, follow the directions in Publishing a globe service to reach the Service Editor.

Otherwise, to access the cache properties for an existing globe service in ArcGIS for Desktop, follow the steps below:

NoteNote:

The Caching tab for globe services is not available in ArcGIS Server Manager.

Steps:
  1. In the Catalog window, expand the GIS Servers node.
  2. Double-click Add ArcGIS Server and establish a Publish GIS services or Administer GIS server connection type to the server. If you already have one of these connections set up, you can skip this step. For instructions on how to connect, see About connecting to the server in ArcGIS for Desktop.
  3. Within your connection to ArcGIS for Server, right-click the service for which you want to access globe cache properties and choose Service Properties.
  4. In the Service Editor that appears, click the Caching tab.

See Available globe cache properties to learn more about the options on the Caching tab.
