Updating statistics on a dataset using Analyze
You can use the Analyze command accessed from the Manage command on the dataset context menu in the Catalog window or ArcCatalog to update statistics on specific datasets. Statistics are updated on different tables and indexes depending on the dataset.
- Statistics are updated on the selected table in a database and its associated indexes.
- Statistics are updated on the base table of nonversioned datasets in a geodatabase and the base table's indexes.
- Statistics are updated on the base table, feature table, and spatial index table of nonversioned feature classes that use SDEBINARY geometry storage. Statistics on the indexes on these tables are also updated.
- Statistics are updated on the delta tables of versioned datasets and the indexes on the delta tables.
- Statistics are updated on the delta tables and archive class of versioned datasets that are enabled for archiving. Statistics on the indexes on the delta tables and archive class are also updated.
Steps:
-
Under Database Connections in the Catalog tree, connect to the database or enterprise geodatabase that contains the dataset for which you want to update statistics.
Be sure to connect as the owner of the dataset.
- Right-click the dataset in the Catalog tree.
This can be a feature dataset, feature class, table, raster catalog, raster dataset, or mosaic dataset.
- Point to Manage and click Analyze.
Statistics are updated for tables and indexes on this dataset as described at the beginning of this topic.
