Enabling and removing pop-up windows
A web map can show descriptive information about features configured for display in a pop-up window. Enabling pop-up windows in a map service layer is a quick way to show pop-up windows in the map. However, layers can contain a large amount of feature data, and maps can include several layers, so the pop-up window tends to look better if you configure them with selected fields, formatting, media, and so on. For more information, see Configuring pop-up windows.
Note:
Feature service layers always have a pop-up window enabled, so you do not see an option to enable pop-up windows. You do see an option to configure them.
To enable or remove pop-up windows on a layer, follow the steps below.
Steps:
- Verify that you are logged in if you want to save the changes to a map you own or save a copy of a map owned by somebody else.
- Open the map in which you want to configure pop-up windows in the map viewer.
- Click the Details button.
- Click the Contents button.
- Navigate to the sublayer that contains the feature data you want to configure.
- Click the arrow to the right of the layer name and click Enable Pop-up.
- Click the arrow to the right of the layer name and click Remove Pop-up if you do not want to display pop-up windows for a map service layer or feature layer you have previously enabled. There is no option to remove pop-up windows for map notes layers or KML layers.
