Reconciling and posting event data

NoteNote:

The ability to reconcile and post in Roadway Characteristics Editor is based on your deployment's configuration and may not be available in your deployment. For details on configuring the option to reconcile and post, see Configuring the Roadway Characteristics Editor web application.

When editing data from an enterprise geodatabase, you may want to reconcile or post edits from one version to another. These tasks can be accomplished using the Reconcile and Post feature within Roadway Characteristics Editor (RCE) by following the steps below.

NoteNote:

There should be preexisting versions of your database available for use. To review creating and changing enterprise geodatabase versions in RCE, see Configuring the enterprise geodatabase version.

Steps:
  1. Open a web browser and browse to Roadway Characteristics Editor.
  2. On the Review tab, in the Versioning group, click Reconcile & Post.
    Reconcile & Post button

The Reconcile and Post dialog box appears.

  3. The dialog box will have a different appearance and drop-down lists depending on which layers are present in your map and whether conflict prevention has been enabled. If the layers in the map come from more than one database, both the Edit Version and Target Version lists appear. If all the layers in the map are located within one database, only the Target Version list appears. If conflict prevention has been enabled, the Release all locks on post check box appears.

  4. If your map layers come from more than one database, click the Edit Version drop-down arrow to select which database version is the child.
  5. Click the Target Version drop-down arrow to select which database version is the parent.
  6. Check the Release all locks on post check box if you want all event locks acquired during editing to be released when posting.
  7. If you want to only reconcile the data from your target version, click Reconcile.
    NoteNote:

If you want to both reconcile and post your data to your target version, click Reconcile and Post.

The Reconcile and Post tool does not handle conflict detection. If there are conflicts between the edit and target version, an error message will appear and Reconcile and Post will fail. Under this circumstance, conflict resolution must be done using ArcMap. If Roads and Highways conflict prevention is enabled, conflicts on routes and events will not be introduced.
