How to delete an add-in

If an add-in is no longer usable and will not be updated, it can be deleted from ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS. For example, if an add-in relies on a service which is no longer available and no replacement can be found, you may wish to delete that add-in to ensure no operation view can use it.

Deleting an add-in ensures that the add-in will be deleted from the local cache the next time a users opens the application; operation views that reference a deleted add-in will show a warning when opened.

CautionCaution:

Once deleted, an item stored inArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS cannot be reinstated. A new item can be created from the same add-in; however the online item will have a different unique item ID, so any operation views referencing the original item ID would need to be updated by removing the add-in reference and downloading and configuring the new add-in.

To remove an existing add-in from ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS:

  1. Open the ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS home page and log in to the same account the add-in was uploaded to.
  2. Open My Content, find the existing add-in and tap or click it to open the item details page.
  3. Tap or click the Delete button, and tap or click Delete to confirm.

If the add-in is present in a local cache, it will be deleted the next time the application is opened. For any users currently using the add-in, this will continue to be available until they next restart the application.
